Recreation Programs

Youth Programs

These are examples of programs we have for youth in Powder Springs
  • Leadership Academy
  • The Program Formerly Know as GIPS and GAPS
  • School Partnerships - Powder Springs partners with community schools to help students achieve their goals. We work with school leadership, the Police department and city officials to make these partnerships work.
  • Summer Camps - Each summer the city organizes a two week camp for local students to attend. Camps are filled with fun and students have the opportunity to learn something new each day.
  • Career Expo - We want students to know about jobs that are available when they graduate from High School or College and this is a way we help inform them of opportunities they may not otherwise know about.
  • Volunteer Opportunities - The city is always looking for volunteers to help out with anything from trash pick-up to events. This is a great way for students to interact with city employees and elected officials.

Adult Programs

Not only do we have programs to engage youth we also have several programs designed to engage adults in our community
  • Community Ambassadors
  • Pastor's Group - As the name states, this is a group of Pastor's who gather with city representatives to discuss ways we can better work with the community.
  • Historical Society Museum Board - This board takes care of all the artifacts in the Seven Springs Museum; how they are displayed, cared for and procuring additional artifacts. If you love Powder Springs History this is the board for you!
  • Arts and Cultural Advisory Commission - This is a group of people with interest in Fine Arts and how our city can make these more accessible to it's residents and visitors. If you have a passion for the Arts this board may interest you!
  • Senior Center Board of Directors - The Powder Springs Senior Center has it's own board to help determine the direction the Senior Center should take. They work closely with City staff to ensure we offer a great place for Seniors to gather and enjoy various activities
  • Volunteer Opportunities - Just like for the youth, this is a great way for residents to be a part of the events they enjoy and taking care of Powder Springs! This is also a great way to meet city staff and elected officials!
